Oh winter. The coldest season of the year. Winter in New York City can consist of any type of weather but the most common are snow, rain, freezing rain, and sunshine. The temperatures are very likely to drop below freezing point(32 F). The average temperature range could be anywhere from 0 Degrees F to 35 degrees. I would recommend waking up early for a day in the city. The average day/night time can range from 9 hours of day and 15 hours of night gradually increasing to 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night by the start of spring. Depending on what date you go, the weather can vary. But since you are going for Christmas in the city, I will focus on that. The temperature should be around 15-30 degrees at its coldest. Expect some snow or at least some flurries. I would recommend packing some sweatshirts and coats, gloves, hat, and warm clothes. If you are planning on going out of the city and going skiing, bring snow gear. It will be cold. For you, the days should be very close to 9 hours of day and 15 hours of night because the Winter solstice happened just a few days ago. Now for the activities; I would recommend going to the world famous Times Square. This city never sleeps. SO much nightlife! There is everything to do here. Here you should go to Iridium jazz club. The club has the best selection of music around and you will love it. The address is 1650 broadway(51st street). I would also recommend going to the highly anticipated New York Knicks vs. The Oklahoma City Thunder at the world famous arena, Madison Square Garden. The game will be awesome considering it's on Christmas. Be there at 1:30 for the tip off at 2:30. The address is 4 Pennsylvania Plaza, New York, NY 10001. Have fun! I highly recommend checking one of the best museums around, The Museum of National History. The Museum has everything from way back to dinosaurs to the Civil War. It's an educational and fun visit! The address is Central Park West at 79th Street, New York, NY 10001 and they are open everyday from 10-6 except Christmas. As I was saying, Times Square is a big hit in NYC. One of the coolest attractions is Ripley's Believe It or Not. It is an awesome and really cool place to see. The address is 234 West 42nd Street, New York, NY 10001 and you can buy tickets here. The price for an adult is about 26 dollars and the price for a child(4-12) is about 20 dollars. Enjoy!
